About IPA
Foundation & Registration
The Indian Paint Association was formally established on 1 July 1960, jointly by the Indian Paint Manufacturers Association and the Paint Federation. It was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, on 8 February 1961.
Registered Office
In 2005, the Association affiliated with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to strengthen its institutional framework and enhance its engagement in policy advocacy, standards development, and sustainable growth initiatives for the Indian coatings sector.
Concurrently, the Registered Office was relocated to the CII Eastern Region Headquarters at 6 Netaji Subhas Road, Kolkata.
Since it began in 1960, the Indian Paint Association has always aimed to bring the industry together, share knowledge, and speak up for its members. IPA continues to stand by the industry — raising important issues with the Government, helping companies stay updated on new trends and technologies, supporting skill development, encouraging sustainable practices, and keeping members connected through strong national and regional networks. With this approach, IPA stays true to its roots while helping the paint and coatings sector move toward a stronger, more innovative, and sustainable future.
- Promote trade interests, technical and commercial knowledge.
- Establish a Code of Conduct and Fair Practices for members.
- Represent industry before Government, advocate for legislation, and secure benefits and concessions.
- Manage funds, accept donations, invest, acquire property, and borrow as needed.
- Arbitrate disputes among members or between members and their clients.
- Establish research and education wings to advance technical knowledge.
- Collaborate with other national / international associations with similar goals.
- Take all necessary and lawful measures to advance the paint and allied industries.
Focus Areas
To address the ongoing slowdown and build long-term industry resilience, IPA members are working to strengthen unified policy advocacy on ADD, QCOs, tariffs, and key regulatory issues while deepening engagement with relevant ministries.
Growth opportunities lie in diversifying into infrastructure-driven demand, specialised industrial coatings, aerospace applications, and export markets.
Awareness sessions will help members invest in innovation — particularly sustainable, low-VOC and water-based solutions — tailored to varied rural and urban needs, alongside strengthening supply-chain resilience through domestic sourcing, digital planning tools, and regional demand data.
Working collaboratively through IPA's central and regional committees, members can navigate current challenges and unlock sustainable, profitable growth pathways.
