Painters Training Programmewas organized between 7th and 12th March 2004 at Lucknow under the Baroda Swarojgar Vikas Sansthan sponsored by the Bank of Baroda. Eighteen painters were trained in the various methods and techniques of paint application. The second training course of the series was conducted at Gandhinagar for the painters in the western region during 6 – 11 June, 2005. Such courses are being organised in all regions for the benefit painters and painting supervisors from every part of the country.

TRAINING PROGRAMME ON “PAINT & PAINT APPLICATION” AT BARODA SWAROJGAR VIKAS SANSTHAN (BSVS), LUCKNOW IN ASSOCIATION WITH INDIAN PAINT ASSOCIATION (IPA) - A REPORT

Baroda Swarojgar Vikas Sansthan (BSVS) in Lucknow conducted a 6-day training programme on “Paint and PaintApplication” in association with Indian Paint Association (IPA). The programme was inaugurated on 25thJuly 2005 in the presence ofShri P.K.Khanna, president of IPA, Shri A.R.Poddar, Chairman of IPA (Eastern Region) and Dr. R.K. Chakrabarti& SuyogSinghal - office bearers of IPA.

There were a total of 18 participants for the programme from different districts of West Bengal (Eastern Region) and Uttar Pradesh (Northern Region). They were awarded a certificate by BSVS.

Due to the dramatic increase in the production and consumption of paints and its allied products over the last decade, the paint technology in India has gained a monumental significance. Further, with the emergence of the decorative sector in paint industry, demands for new and sophisticated techniques of surface preparation, paint application, coating, etc. have become vital. IPA has identified this situationand taken an initiative to train and equip the paint applicators (painters) by associatingitself with Baroda Swarojgar Vikas Sansthan (BSVS) - an innovative concept of Bank of Baroda.

Senior Executives of reputed paint companies such as Goodlac Nerolac Paint Ltd. (GNPL), Asian Paints, Shalimar Paints, Tata Motors Ltd., Surcoat Paints Pvt Ltd., Premium Coatings & Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd, etc. covered the technical sessions of the programme. Detailed knowledge was delivered to the participants through theory sessions, practical sessions and also with an excursionto the Jainpur plant of GNPL, Kanpur. In addition to this, various topics relating to entrepreneurial competencies, time management, marketing, customer service, communication skills, banking-project report preparation, availment, utilization and repayment of loans under different schemes, SWOT analysis and personality development, etc. was covered by theBSVS officials.

The feedback from the participants about the programme was very encouraging;this speaks of the success of the joint efforts of BSVS & IPA.

Theprogrammeconcluded on 30thJuly, 2005. The valedictory session was chaired by Shri N.Ramani, Dy. General Manager, Bank ofBaroda, Zonal Office, Lucknow, in the presence of ShriP.K. Khanna, President, IPA. Senior bank executives – Shri V.S. Thate, AGM, Nagpur & Shri S.L. Kante, Chairman, RRB, Sultanpur were the special guests of this occasion. Shri K.K. Mathur, Director BSVS, Lucknowpresented a detailed report of this event & other activities of the Institute. He also mentioned about the special contributions of Shri Partha SarathiSadhu, Deputy Director & ShriTulsi Dass, Resident incharge ofthe Confederation ofIndian Industry (CII) and (Prof.)Susheel Chandra who was the Course Coordinator for conduction of this successful programme.
